Isabel Esteves is original from Lisbon, Portugal. From young age, she started drawing comic strips, replicating it in small notebooks offered by her parents. This drove her to find her calling in art. However, destiny led her to a foundation in Science rather than in Arts. She took a PhD in Chemical Engineering and a Post-Graduation in Enterprise Management, although Art walked in parallel in her life.
As a visual artist, Isabel received most of her inspiration by gathering self-taught knowledge in books, short courses and workshops; attending to art events and mostly practicing. Her inspiration comes from people, life experiences and everyday emotions. Colour is one of the important aspects of her work, which is not restricted to one type of media; she works with charcoal, ink, oil, watercolor and has experienced her way through sculpture to recognize 3D modeling as a tool to understand drawing in its pure essence. Since 2010 (when she had her first child), Isabel felt the need to invest professionally in her career as an artist. She started as apprentice and has received training with artistic mentors, searching for balance and technique to develop her creativity and her artist’s signature style. Through these she is able to refine her senses to capture on paper, canvas or clay, daily moments, figures and thoughts. Her foundation in Science adds an alternative view to her creative process as an artist. Leonardo da Vinci is Isabel favorite scientist, artist and inspiration. Her life slogan is to live living and learning. She has exhibited her work in collective and solo activities (exhibitions, performances and plenaries/workshops as instructor).
What will be her journey in art? Isabel expects to consolidate her foundation in Arts in order to express her work with creativity and assertiveness; and reflect how much this instinct and fascination gives her pleasure and fulfillment, by being able to express her artwork to the public.
